About Rachael
From a young age, I cared.
My preschool teacher (who I still keep in touch with) fondly remembers a little girl who could not settle into her colouring until she made sure all the other children had enough crayons and paper. In High School I was an outspoken proud member of the Social Justice Group and was voted most likely to ‘save the world’.
I had grand plans of becomming an aid worker with the UN, and got into the degree I needed to get me there. I was on my way. Except, I found the adult world full of grey areas my youthful idealism struggled to navigate. And Uni was nothing like Dead Poets Society. So I dropped out.
Thus began my search. Institutional change wasn’t for me, so I looked at corporate responsibility. Working for a big 4 bank I vowed to change it from the inside out. But I found the corporate dinosaur too slow. I trained as a Natural Therapist hoping to help people individually. And whilst I loved my time in Natural Therapies and teaching meditation and saw some amazing transformation, I longed for community.
Then came my beautiful boys (I’m not just saying that – strangers comment on how cute they are). They showed me what compassion and acceptance really means.
So now I am an empathetic mother, a supportive wife, an aspiring seeker, a recovering perfectionist, an administrator extraordinaire, compassion champion, a former chocoholic baker and the founder of a NFP.
At my core I am a softy who cannot witness suffering without being moved to help; even if the extent of that help is a silent prayer.
